LiveJournal's scrapbook thing seems to be broken for me right now, so I'm using my site to host these (which means it's back to using cut tags). Here's some stuff:

A print I did for our class postcard project. Eventually I'll get a copy of everyone else's postcards, too. I've seen some already, and they're pretty awesome.

Gonna turn this one into a print, but I can't decide if I should add another color (or what color I would use) or if I should leave it as-is.

I don't feel like explaining the concept behind this too much since I think it explains itself, kind of. This started off with a couple of random blurry photos mashed together in Photoshop and then became me trying to see how many layers I could add onto this thing before my computer gave up. Looking at it now, it doesn't seem like there are that many, but I think I ended up with around 20-25 layers.

A Cheshire cat for The Grand Cheshire Ball, because it looks fun and I like drawing cats. Here's the info I submitted for this guy:

Cheshire's Name: Phosphor
Trick or Treat?: Trick
Anything Else: Phosphor hides in dark places and only comes out at night. He has a halogen lamp on the end of his tail to help him find his way in the dark. This turns on and off at will along with his other glowing parts, a skill which he uses to trick people (especially children) into thinking they see something they don't. He is frequently mistaken for a will-o'-the-wisp.

Stuff from my screen printing class. Both of these scanned really badly for some reason. The colors are pretty gross looking. Anyway, the one on the left is the purple layer by itself, which I'm going to make separate prints of next week 'cause I like it that way, too (this one was just a test print).

Another lady with water hair. I actually did this one before I did the one above. I guess my subconscious was like, "Hey this is cool let's do the same thing but not." Oh well! There will probably be more of them.

Aaaaahhhh I miss drawing Sconeborough. I'm going to try to draw SOMETHING this week and post it on the site.

Something I drew to keep myself occupied between working on important stuff. There are so many other things I could have drawn that would have been more productive than this (like my comic, for one), but for some reason it had to happen.

Ocelot + awesome = AWECELOT.

A stupid thing I drew to practice painting, and then I started painting it and now I'm kind of mad at it but that happens. I still like the sketch at the moment, so here it is.

A painting of Voltaire, Rashied's and my black ghost knifefish. That fish was like our child (something we have joked about many times, but it's sadly kind of true), so I got really upset when he died! I'm still kind of sad about it, so he can continue making happy fish faces in my art :(

Something that has nothing to do with the other thing! I know the background on this is balls - I started this months ago and then got stuck on the background until I got sick of it being unfinished and slapped something together. The Last Unicorn is one of my favorite animated movies (and the book is great too, if you haven't read it), and I have spent so much time trying to draw that damn unicorn right, haha. At least that's the only good thing about this piece.

This was just a sketch to practice drawing different facial features using my characters, since I need excuses to draw them these days. I think Dimitri's head (left) is the most successful at looking like the character, but he's the easiest to draw since his features are so pronounced. Why it's slightly larger than the other two, I have no idea. I'm not sure how I feel about Travis's head (middle), but I hardly ever draw him anymore so I don't have a good handle on what his face is actually supposed to look like. Elias's head (right) is the same as always; it looks enough like him, but it's not quite there. I hardly ever get his face exactly right, since it's the most idealized. Next time I'll do this with girls instead.

Shelby, my kitty in Pet Society, which is the dumbest fucking game ever but I'm stupid and love dumb games where the only point is to have items so you can do absolutely nothing with them. She doesn't have yellow eyes in the game, but they looked better colored in. And now that I've let the whole entire world know just how lame I am, I'm gonna go do stuff!

Sailor Mars! I've drawn the other four sailors, too, but I don't know if I'll color all of them.

I did a whole bunch of marker drawings today, mostly of things in my room. The first drawings are based on a fox bobblehead and a tiger bank, the second is a bunch of toy monsters I got out of a vending machine, and the third is a character called Kuromi that's on the wallet I got from the Sanrio store.

Fish hand, turned into a print. I have 3 or 4 more good prints of this if anyone's interested in buying one.

This is a character for Kesame's mob fox thing on Deviant Art (Osusuki). Basically you just make up a fox character for the mob. I love making pointless characters, so I drew one real quick just for fun. Her name is Anna, and she is 28 years old. She uses her beauty to get what she wants. During confrontations, she masks her feminine appearance with men's clothing and wears a white glove over her black hand to keep her identity hidden from her enemies.

...Of course, nobody recognizes the most obvious defining trait, her face. It's a Sailor Moon thing, haha. The little fish logo denotes what family she belongs to and was drawn by Kesame. I put it on there for consistency's sake.

These might be familiar faces for some of you, haha. I used some of my original characters for these (though who knows whether or not I'll actually do anything with the characters themselves at this point). The backgrounds were actually just a colored paper backing with a one inch border around the original image, but it looked weird with the white space once I photographed them, so I filled it in. These were all done with watercolor on some giant sheets of paper. I cut out the shapes and put them together afterward. They are supposed to have some kind of story, so view them in order, I guess!

The assignment here was to use an object that had some personal meaning to you and incorporate it into an image. My grandpa was a field medic in World War II and brought back some stuff from Japan... so, of course the obvious choice was planes. Well, part of the assignment was to do something you don't usually do with your work, and I don't really draw planes ever. I also wanted to make it look more like a painting, so I tried not to use lines. It's not quite finished, but the file sort of died while I was working on it, so yeah, it's done, haha. Overall, I'm not too happy with it, but it was decent practice, so I'm posting it for that reason.

I'm trying some new magical LJ thing with the scrap book so I can post smaller images without having to make LJ cuts. Should make reading a bit easier! I have a lot of stuff to post, so I'm just going to do it over a few entries instead of one giant one. These are some more images from my Chinese Zodiac project. The last one I have to do is the horse, though I've been having a bit of trouble with it.

The remaining animals are just paper cutouts, nothing too special (though they were fun to make). Maybe I'll try to do something more ambitious with that style later.

Just one sketch today: Fish hand! )

Random question time! Would anyone be too offended if I went back to posting art in [info]silvertiger instead of using this journal? I was thinking about it awhile ago and it almost seems counterproductive to have two journals since most of the people on my friends list for this journal are also on the other one. I only stopped using the other one so people who were interested in my art wouldn't have to read my teenage girl whining (I have spent too much of my life on LiveJournal), but I am no longer a teenage girl. I don't know, though. It's nice to have this journal free of clutter, since I do post a lot of photos/rambling in my other one. What do you guys think?

Here are a whole bunch of cute animal drawings! )

Also, since I don't think I mentioned it here, I drew a short comic for the Side B anthology, which is now available for pre-order! From the website:

Side B will be available for pre-order in the April edition of Previews, Diamond Distributor's monthly catalogue under the code APR090973. So all you have to do is go to your local comic book shop between April 1st to April 30th and ask for the to order Side B: The Music Lover's Comic Anthology by Poseur Ink!

There is also a flier you can print out to take with you! My story is about an opera singer who finds a tiny cat (because I can't write about anything other than cats, obviously). It also rhymes, which is either wonderful or awful depending on how much you like rhyming.

And if you're not going to get the book for Sad Kitty (though you should, because he is sad), then do it for all the other amazing artists who contributed!
